Volkswagen Golf - Video tutorial
Model: Volkswagen Golf
Golf V, MK 5, Golf 5
- Years 2003-2008 Replacing the support pistons of the rear bonnet with gas springs with an increased calibration can allow a quicker and more automatic opening of the bonnet, in the sense that the bonnet lifts by itself without having to accompany it with your hand. Remove the slide safety at the piston head and pull it out to release it from its ball support. Then unscrew the bonnet stop rubber (to facilitate the insertion of the key) and the ball support; screw the new support and apply the new piston by first opening the safety and closing it after having fitted the head on the ball; refit the rubber pad and adjust it. Repeat the same operations on the other side.
