How to Remove the Rear Light of the Volkswagen Passat Variant

This guide shows how to remove the rear light of the Volkswagen Passat Variant. First, open the boot and position yourself on the side you want to work on. Next, using a trim removal tool, detach the plastic cover between the light and the boot seal. Using a socket spanner, unscrew the plastic fixing bolt of the light; be careful not to break the plastic piece as it is quite fragile. At this point, use the trim removal tool to apply force to the outer edge of the light to pull it out of its position. Disconnect the electrical connector before completely removing the light. Reassembly is done in the same way but in reverse.
