Once you have removed the rear side panel, clean it of any impurities and any adhesive residue. Next, prepare the surface to be painted by covering the areas that should not be painted with paper and masking tape. Spray the first coats of primer onto the area to be painted until it is smooth. Then cover the area with another two or three coats of silver primer to enhance the final colour that will characterise the panel. At this point, you can paint or customise the chosen area as you wish. The plastics of the panels can be repainted without special preparations as the paint adheres well to that material; the only consideration is to use a good automotive paint. For the front doors, consider painting the handles with a vinyl paint for plastic, and then, after preparation, you can paint the groove in the centre white. After finishing the painting, cover everything with two or three layers of lacquer to protect your work and give a glossy finish to the colour. The inserts of the front doors, once removed with the help of a soldering iron to detach the clips that secure them to the panels, can be covered with a layer of leather-effect paper, taking care to glue it as precisely as possible. Additionally, you can apply the same colour to the plastics of the tunnel and dashboard, and perhaps also replace the gear lever cover with one that matches the rest of the new upholstery.
