How to Reset the Service Light on a Volkswagen Passat B5

Model: Volkswagen Passat 3BG, B5 - Years 1996-2005

To reset the service light on a Volkswagen Passat, get in the car and close all four doors. Pull the handbrake. Insert the keys into the ignition without starting it. On the left side of the speedometer, there is a button/dial. Press and hold it while turning on the instrument cluster - but without starting the engine - now turn the button/dial for the clock to the right, located to the right of the rev counter. Turn off the ignition. The operation is complete. If you want to verify, simply turn the ignition back on. The service light will be off.
