To replace the battery in the key for the Volkswagen Golf 4, use a screwdriver to lever in the horizontal groove located halfway up the device: this will separate the upper part from the lower part. The lower part must be opened by levering inside, allowing access to the components inside: the battery can be removed from its housing and replaced with a new one. After replacement, close the remote again by reconnecting the two halves and check that it functions correctly.
