To replace the ignition switch in a Volkswagen Golf, you need to completely remove the steering wheel from the end of the steering column. This will allow access to the plastics covering the column, which can be removed by unscrewing the fixing screws. After removing the plastics, locate the ignition switch, which can be taken out of its housing by unscrewing the fixing screws and disconnecting the power cables. Once removed, insert the new replacement part, connecting it and securing it in its place.
