How to Replace the Battery in a VW Golf 4

Open the key fob to access the small side slot in the middle. Insert a flathead screwdriver into this slot and turn the screwdriver head to separate the two parts, the one with the controls from the one with the key fob. Now, using the metal part of the key, open the section where the control buttons are located by inserting the key into the carved side and prying it open. You will now have access to the battery compartment, which you can remove, preferably using a plastic tool. Replace the battery and reassemble the entire remote.
