Today's step-by-step instructions will show you how to remove and replace the handbrake cable on a Volkswagen Jetta. First, raise the vehicle and remove the front wheel.

Next, disconnect the handbrake cable by unscrewing the nut from the adjuster, as shown in the video. At this point, remove the plastic cover from the centre tunnel by disconnecting the cable from the lever; now pull the cable out to remove it and replace it with the new, correct type, securing it to the lever and the rear.

Finally, adjust the cable!
