Replace Gas Struts on Volvo V50

Model: Volvo V50 MK 1 - Years 2004-2012

Open the tailgate and support it with a long hydraulic jack, as it will have no support shortly. Using a flat screwdriver, detach the retaining ring that connects the strut to the gas spring on the bonnet. Similarly, detach the ring that connects the gas spring to the body. At this point, you can remove the gas strut, ensuring that your hydraulic jack is well positioned. Obviously, repeat the procedure on the other spring. While they are out, clean the mounting seats of the struts. Position the gas spring, ensuring the retaining ring clicks into place to indicate correct insertion.
