To adjust the handbrake of the Volvo V70, use an object to lift the leather gaiter covering the base of the handbrake: once the gaiter is lifted, you can locate the bolt that allows you to adjust the tension of the handbrake underneath. This bolt should be tightened with a suitable socket spanner to make the handbrake firmer and reduce its travel; conversely, you can loosen it to make the handbrake softer and increase its travel. After adjustment, reposition the leather gaiter.
