The procedure for replacing the timing belt on the Volvo S40 involves opening the hood to access the components located inside the engine compartment: on the left side, bulky components such as the windshield washer fluid reservoir must be removed to access the side of the engine block. Here there will be a protective panel that must also be removed by loosening the fixing screws; some screws will be accessible by removing the front right wheel and the wheel arch. At this point, the central nut of the tensioner roller must be loosened, the belt removed, and replaced.
