How to Replace the Timing Belt on the Volvo S40

Replacing the timing belt on the Volvo S40 is not a simple task, so it is advisable to visit a workshop for the replacement; however, for the more curious, here is a video tutorial on how the job is done. First, open the bonnet and remove any obstructing parts that hinder access to the belt, such as the water pump, tensioner, etc. To remove the timing belt, first loosen the pulley to relieve tension, then remove the pulley, the camshaft sprocket, the injection pump sprocket, and the water pump tensioner, finally slide out the belt. To install the new belt, follow the direction indicated by the arrows showing the rotation. Once the belt is hand-inserted, mount the pulley to add tension and reassemble the remaining mechanical parts. Check the tension carefully before reinstalling the water pump and other previously removed engine components.
