In this video, the replacement of the timing belt on a Volvo S40 is done. After removing all the components that obstruct access to the belt, the old one is loosened and removed (after about 100,000 km). The water pump, the idler wheel and the tensioner are removed and replaced. Now mount the timing belt paying attention: follow the direction of the arrows on the belt in the direction of rotation. When replacing, follow this sequence: guide pulley, camshaft sprocket, injection pump sprocket, water pump tensioner roller. Insert the timing tool onto the crankshaft pinion. Check that the camshaft sprocket timing marks are aligned and remember to check the belt tension.
