Remove the bolts securing the brake caliper so you can work with the part in hand. Check the wear indicator: if it is close to the limit, before it reaches the metal, change the pads. To remove them, simply take out the two pins by pinching and pulling out the small springs. The Yamaha R1 has 4 pads, two large and two small. Open the caliper pistons by pushing them, as the new pads are obviously thicker since they are unworn, and you will need to create enough space. Start by inserting the smaller pads and secure them with the pins and springs. Once all pads are in place, fit the caliper back onto the brake disc.

How to Replace the Air Filter on the Benelli TRK 502X?
