Alfa Romeo 156 - Video tutorial

Model: Alfa Romeo 156 MK 1 - Years 1997-2007
Part: Hydraulic pistons
Operation: Replace the front hood holding pistons on Alfa Romeo 156

Let's see how to replace the front hood holding pistons on Alfa Romeo 156. We lift the front hood and put it in safety with a rod; with a screwdriver we detach the metal hooks that block the exhaust piston on both ends (or unscrew the locking pins). We mount the new piece on the car, put the piston in safety with the metal clips / pins. We proceed in the same way for the disassembly / assembly of the twin piston. Finally we test the previously mounted gas pistons: we open and close the hood (we adjust the pins).

We start by inserting the key but leaving it in the initial position, after which we keep the accelerator pedal fully depressed and at the same time turn on the instrument panel. At this point, always keeping the accelerator pressed, press the brake pedal 5 consecutive times and, with the pedals in position, turn off the ignition. We check that the procedure has been successful by starting the vehicle.
