What are the signs that tell us that the brake disc needs to be replaced?

Model: Audi A3 8V, MK 3 - Years 2012-2019
Part: Brake system

There are signs that can help us understand when the brake discs are too worn and need to be replaced. Among the symptoms while driving, we feel the steering wheel shaking, and a strong vibration of the pedal, especially at high speeds; this means that the discs are "ovalized", that is, they have irregular wear. Other times we hear a sharp metallic sound, which is heard when braking: it is the friction material of the brake pad that comes into contact with the disc; braking takes longer and the brake performance is reduced: the car "pulls to one side. Visually, if we run a finger along the edge of the disc, we will feel a step; or we will see radial cracks (similar to spider webs) or deep circular grooves; we may also see bluish stains, a sign of overheating.

In this short video, you will see how to remove the ignition switch from a Mercedes C-Class (Mercedes W204). First, remove the chrome trim (if present) around the ignition switch by prying it off with a screwdriver (preferably something soft to avoid damaging the dashboard). Next, remove the plastic trim around the gauge cluster where the tachometer and speedometer are located, as well as the rectangular plastic trim surrounding the steering wheel. Simply unclip it. Now, press and push the ignition switch to release it from the housing, and you're done!
