To replace the gear knob on an Audi A3, detach the clips securing the leather gaiter to the base of its housing. This will allow you to fully lift the covering and access the connecting ring between the gaiter and the knob. By removing this ring, you can slide the knob off the top of the lever, along with the gaiter. You can then fit a new knob onto the top of the lever, ensuring the gaiter is secured in the clips at the base of its housing.
