Descriptive guide for replacing the battery on a BMW R1200GSA. Obtain a new battery. Place the motorcycle on the centre stand. Using a 3mm Allen key, unscrew the retaining screw of the triangular cover on the right side under the fuel tank. Detach the cover outwards. Remove the red cap from the battery terminal, taking care with the orientation of the terminals. Using a 10mm socket spanner, unscrew the two screws on the battery terminals. Unscrew the battery retaining bracket and remove the battery. If the motorcycle is equipped with an alarm, keep the ignition on before disconnecting a terminal. If the motorcycle is recent and has a remote key from the manufacturer, it is advisable for experienced individuals only to connect the terminals before disconnecting a battery maintainer, and to keep them connected until the battery is fully replaced, ensuring that the two terminals do not touch each other to avoid damage to the maintainer. Replace the battery and reassemble as per disassembly.
