To change the oil on the BMW R 1200 GS, position the motorcycle on a stand and first remove the right side bodywork panels. When removing the side panel, be careful to disconnect the air temperature sensor. Once the panel is off, locate the oil filler cap above the footpeg and unscrew it. Next, find the oil drain plug just above the stand pivot. Using an appropriate spanner, loosen the plug, ensuring you have a container ready to collect the used oil. Wait a few minutes for all the oil to drain out, then re-screw the plug. Take the suitable oil container to refill the system using the removable tube provided with the container. Finally, tighten the plug again and reassemble all the bodywork components in reverse order.
