To reset the service light on a BMW 3 Series, get in the vehicle and turn on the ignition without starting the engine. Press the trip odometer button until you see "Service" or the maintenance message.

Hold the button until the display starts to flash, then release it and press again until the light turns off. On models with iDrive, access "Vehicle Info", select "Vehicle Status", then "Service Requirements", and confirm "Reset". Finally, turn off and turn on the ignition to check that the light remains off. If it stays on, the system indicates an incomplete service, and take the vehicle to an authorized workshop.

How to open the bonnet of a Peugeot 308
