Replacing Worn Shock Absorbers

Model: BMW Serie 3 E46 - Years 1998-2006
Part: Shocks

You only need an 18mm socket wrench for this operation. Remove the wheel and unscrew the nut that holds one end of the shock absorber to the vehicle frame. First, securely tie the entire suspension arm assembly to prevent it from falling during the operation. Safely position the vehicle on jack stands and remove the retaining pins from the suspension arm cover. Unscrew the bolt that holds the shock absorber to the arm using an 18mm ratchet wrench and remove the worn suspension. Attach the new shock absorber to the base and then to the frame. Perform a road test to verify proper operation.
