Before you start, open the trunk of your BMW X3. First, remove the cover that conceals the bolts securing the rear light assembly to the vehicle. This will expose the mounting bolts.

Next, use a 10 mm wrench to loosen and remove these two bolts, freeing the light. At this point, pull the light out of its housing, then disconnect the rear connector, and you will have completed the removal.
