Replacing the shift knob is a straightforward DIY task since you don't need to disassemble anything: simply pull the shift knob upward with force; once the shift knob is removed, you can detach the boot's trim at the base of the shift lever and take it off; then insert the new boot by attaching the trim to the base and apply the new shift knob by aligning it and pressing it down firmly: give it a sharp tap without fear, there's nothing that can break.
