In this video, we will go through the main steps to remove and replace the steering angle sensor on the first generation BMW X5 E53. First, get inside the vehicle on the driver’s side and remove the plastic panel located above the footwell; then locate the steering angle sensor and use a socket wrench to unscrew the mounting screw.

At this point, disconnect the electrical connector and pull the sensor out of its guide, replacing it with the new one; finally, reassemble the sensor and the plastic panel.
