Replacing the Trunk Panel Handle

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003

Some cars, like in this video, have a second compartment under the trunk floor. The compartment is protected by a carpeted panel. To facilitate opening and accessing the lower compartment, there is a plastic handle. When loading bulky and/or heavy items, it is possible to hit the handle. The handle consists of two parts: the lower shell and the upper shell. If the handle is out of place, first check that the clips and the return spring are intact or broken; in that case, you will need to replace the handle. First, position the lower shell and press to secure the upper frame by applying pressure on the frame and not on the handle. Now check the actual operation of the handle, which, when lowered on one side, provides a grip to lift the panel.
