Often, you may notice that your vehicle emits more vibrations than usual, indicating that the timing chain needs replacement. To replace the chain on the BMW X5, the first step is to remove the entire engine block. Once this is done, locate the timing chain cover on the side and remove the fastening bolts. After removing the cover, you will see the chain, and you should loosen the "tensioner" bolt to slide it out and replace it with a new one. Once replaced, simply tighten the "tensioner" bolt and reattach the cover, securing it with the bolts.
