To replace the interior handle on a BMW 5 Series, you need to completely remove the corresponding door panel: to do this, you must detach the cover located inside the interior handle housing. This will allow you to remove the screw underneath, along with those located at the bottom of the panel. Once the panel is removed, you can loosen the screws that secure the interior handle mechanism, disconnecting it from its cable as well. Then, you can install a new handle and reattach the panel to the door.
