To replace the battery in a BMW 3 Series, open the trunk to lift the carpet at the base. After lifting it, detach the right side plastic cover, under which the battery is located. The battery can be removed from its housing after disconnecting the power cables and loosening the mounting screws; this will allow you to install the new battery, connect it, and secure it properly, then cover everything back up.
