Diesel Filter Replacement Instructions

Model: BMW Serie 5 E39 - Years 1995-2003
Part: Diesel fuel filter

On this car model (and many BMW models), the diesel filter is located under the chassis and not in the engine compartment; to replace the filter, you need to access the chassis near the right rear wheel (passenger side). Before proceeding with disassembly, it is recommended to remove the fuel pump fuse to avoid accidental spills. Once the vehicle is raised, remove the plastic cover, disconnect the inlet and outlet hoses, and unscrew the support clamp of the filter to remove it. Then, insert the new filter, ensuring the fuel flow direction indicated by an arrow on the filter is respected, secure it with the clamp, and reconnect the hoses. Reinsert the fuse and turn the ignition on and off three to four times before starting the engine to fill the filter.
