Today, with the help of this video tutorial, you will learn how to replace the shift boot and knob of a BMW 3 Series. This operation, while simple, can take up to a couple of hours, especially if you have never performed a similar task before. The first step to replace the boot is to remove the shift knob. To extract the knob, pull it upward with force. Once the knob is removed, you can pull out the boot and its plastic trim. Be careful during these steps not to detach the shifter completely from its housing. Now, insert the new boot into the plastic frame and then place it back into the center where it was previously removed from. At this point, you can install the shift knob.
