To replace the rear light on a BMW 1 Series, start by opening the tailgate and removing the interior trim covering the rear of the bodywork. Locate the desired rear light inside the boot and disconnect the electrical connector powering the light.

Next, remove the light's fastenings using the appropriate tools. Once the fastenings are removed, carefully extract the light from the bodywork.

To install the new rear light, simply follow this procedure in reverse, and you will have completed the replacement.
