How to Replace the Key Battery on a BMW

Model: BMW Serie 5 E61, E60 - Years 2003-2010
Part: Key

Press the button at the top of the back of the key to extract the metal key inserted in its housing. Once the metal key is extracted, you can use a flathead screwdriver to pry up the small back panel of the key by applying a slight push on one of the two tabs on the edge of the opened key. This will give you access to the key battery for removal. Now, simply replace the battery as needed. You can then retrace the steps described in reverse for reassembly.
