Can I Start My BMW with a Dead Remote?

On BMWs equipped with Keyless start, you can enter the car and start it even with a dead remote. To get in, find the physical key located inside the remote; once extracted, remove the plastic cover that hides the physical lock under the driver's door handle. Once inside the car, present the dead remote to the emergency reader. The location varies by model, but on newer vehicles, it is typically found on the right side of the steering column (alternatively, look for an icon with radio waves or a key printed on the column or dashboard). Place the back of the key against this point and press the start button. The engine will start without issues.
