How to Replace the Key Remote of a Car

Although the video refers to a General Motors vehicle, the principle applies to all cars with a retractable key. Be careful not to damage the components. Obtain the new remote housing for your car: you can find the suitable one online. Start by disassembling the old remote; remove the spring and the key button, observe the position of the electronic chip, remove the rear battery cover, and take out the battery. Be very careful not to damage the electronic chip and place it in the front half (the one with the rubber buttons) of the new remote; it should snap into place on plastic tabs. Take the back part of the new remote and insert the spring into its designated slot, ensuring the spring tab fits into the corresponding groove. Place your key over the button, aligning it with the notches. Hold the key/spring assembly in position and rotate it counterclockwise two turns. This will wind the spring, allowing the key to pop out automatically when the button is pressed. While maintaining tension, align the key with the housing and join the two halves of the remote. Press firmly until the two halves snap together. Test the functionality of the remote and try the key's opening and closing mechanism.
