How to Adjust the Handbrake on a Renault or Dacia Vehicle

In this video, you will learn how to adjust the mechanical handbrake on a Renault or Dacia vehicle. Start by tightening it a bit from the inside of the cabin. Use a flat screwdriver to remove the cover at the back of the centre tunnel. Here, you will find a screw that you need to remove, allowing you to take off the centre console that covers the handbrake mechanism. Under the carpet, you will find the tension screw. At the front of the handbrake lever, there is a black cover hiding a screw. You can adjust the handbrake tension using this screw according to your needs. Keep in mind that the correct tension is four clicks of the mechanism.

How to Open the Bonnet on the Lancia Y
