How to repair the heating system of the Fiat 500

Model: Fiat 500 312 - Years 2007-2024
Part: Air conditioner

A common issue that occurs with the Fiat 500 is a malfunction in the air conditioning system, where the heating stops working at a certain point and only cold air comes out even when the temperature is set to 3°C. The YouTuber dismantled the entire dashboard and unfortunately, the only solution seemed to be replacing the entire air conditioning unit - which is quite expensive - because there are no spare parts available. Upon inspection, it was found that the cause of the issue was a broken pin that is responsible for switching between hot and cold air, and is controlled by a motor. The YouTuber ingeniously built a new pin to control this function and reinstalled it, allowing the motor to properly operate the switch between hot and cold air.

Use a plastic lever to disconnect the leather gaiter frame (if it needs replacing). For reassembly: fit the new leather gaiter with the clips (if removed), then take the new knob and push it onto the stick in the centre console until it is secured. Finally, test the movement of the stick in the centre console to ensure the knob is correctly fitted.
