How to Disable the Seatbelt Chime on a Fiat Grande Punto

Owners of a Fiat Grande Punto often deal with an annoying problem: the seatbelt chime that sounds continuously even when the seatbelt is fastened. This happens because the sensor under the seat no longer detects the seatbelt inserted. To avoid enduring this sound during a journey, a simple solution has been found. Under the seat, locate the plastic cover that conceals the sensor, then use a screwdriver to pry off the clips to detach it: you will see two connectors, but we are interested in the grey one. Pull it out. Using a small screwdriver, open the side flap of the connector. Inside, you will see two contacts that carry current. We want to bypass the seatbelt sensor. Take a piece of copper wire (stripped at the ends) and insert it between the two contacts, creating a bridge, then reposition the connector and reassemble the plastic cover. Done.
