Battery Replacement Instructions

Model: Fiat Punto MK 2, 188 - Years 1999-2011

Open the front bonnet and unscrew the two fixing nuts of the battery retaining bracket; then loosen the battery terminal bolts starting with the negative, which actually has a bayonet connection (black cable); then remove the old battery from its housing and insert the new one, orienting the terminals correctly. If the battery terminals are oxidised, clean them with a wire brush or a scouring pad. Then connect the positive terminal first, then the negative, and finally secure the retaining bracket by tightening the relevant bolts. If a maintenance battery (i.e., with caps) has been installed, periodically check the fluid level inside.
