How do you replace the timing belt on the Fiat 500 Abarth?

In order to replace the Fiat 500 Abarth timing belt, the hood must be opened to gain access to the engine compartment. The engine top cover, air duct and coolant pan will need to be removed to gain access to the engine side cover. By loosening the screws that secure it, you will have access to the pulleys and belt. By loosening the tensioner roller and the central pins of the other pulleys, the timing belt can be removed and replaced. After the replacement, it will be possible to re-assemble all the parts previously removed.

Open the bonnet and secure it, lift the car on a column lift (if necessary, remove the front wheel using a screwdriver to take off the right wheel arch liner). Use a fixed spanner to loosen the tensioner pulley and slide the belt off its seat. Use a socket spanner to undo the securing bolt of the tensioner pulley, then remove the water pump as shown in the video.
