How to disassemble the engine of the Fiat 500

Today we will explain how to disassemble the engine of a vintage Fiat 500 on your own. We lift the car on stands and start disassembling by opening the trunk, using a key to unscrew the nuts on the engine's electrical cables. We disconnect the throttle connector and unscrew the fixing bolts to remove it. We disconnect the starter motor connector and also disconnect the electrical cables, then unscrew the nuts that hold the starter motor to the engine and remove it. Using an 8mm torque wrench, we remove the lower part of the engine cover by unscrewing the nuts. Using a 13mm wrench, we remove the gear linkage and support. We loosen the nuts that hold the rear crossmember and the two pins that hold the gearbox bracket. With a 20mm torque wrench, we unscrew the nuts on the exhaust to remove it. We remove the crossmember bolts and pull the entire engine block outwards.
