How to Replace the Front Shock Absorber

Model: Fiat Punto MK 2, 188 - Years 1999-2011

Lift the car on a ramp and raise it to a comfortable working height. Remove the front tyre. Now detach the brake cable and brake oil supply from their clips. Unscrew the two bolts that connect the shock absorber to the braking system and detach it. Lower the car and open the bonnet. Locate the bolt that secures the top of the shock absorber and unscrew it with the appropriate spanners. You can then extract the shock absorber from its position. Once removed, place it in a special machine to compress it and unscrew the bolt to remove the spring. Unscrew the bolts that secure the plates at the bottom of the old shock absorber and reattach them to the new one. Fit the spring and its covers onto the new shock absorber. Install the new shock absorber onto the car following the same operations in reverse order.
The car on which the replacement was performed is a Fiat Punto.
