Solutions to the problems that can arise with the lock and cable of the Fiat Punto 188.

In this video we see what problems the locks of the Fiat Punto 188 can give, and the relative solutions. The lock we see is held by two bolts that can be seen after removing the cover; if the cable is broken and does not release, then we must remove the cover which is fixed with four 10 nuts, and in any case it is necessary to open the holes more indicated in the video to access the bolts previously illustrated, which will allow us to open the hood and therefore replace the cable or the spring, indicated in the next illustration, and to which the cable must be attached. It may be that after opening the hood it does not fit well on the body, due to the adjustment that must be made. If it is necessary to also change the tie rod, there is a small trick to facilitate the operation, namely to tie the end of the old cable to the new one with tape, and lubricate with WD-40. To recognize if the cable is damaged: from inside the car we will feel it very soft. If instead the problem is the lock, we can try to enter from under the car to the lock and pull the cable for opening, or by giving sharp blows from the outside, near the lock.
