How to Start a Ford Focus MK3 with a Flat Battery

In the Ford Focus MK3, the battery is located in the engine bay on the right side. Before connecting the jump leads, ensure both vehicles are off and in neutral. Position the donor vehicle as close as possible to the Focus without the bodies touching. Connect the red lead to the positive terminal of the flat battery; connect the other end of the red lead to the positive terminal of the charged battery, then connect the black lead to the negative terminal of the charged battery and the other end of the black lead to an unpainted metal part of the Focus engine, away from the battery and fuel injection system. Start the donor vehicle and let it run for 2-3 minutes. Then try to start the Focus. Disconnect the leads in reverse order: first remove the black lead from the Focus (metal part of the engine); then remove the black lead from the donor battery; remove the red lead from the donor battery and finally remove the red lead from the Focus battery. After starting, drive the Focus for at least 20-30 minutes to recharge the battery.
