How to Unlock and Replace the Boot Lock on a Ford EcoSport

This guide shows how to unlock the boot lock on the Ford EcoSport. The tailgate, unlike other cars, opens sideways rather than upwards. After pressing the lock actuator switch, you may hear the lock mechanism but not the actual opening. To unlock the mechanism, remove the inner door panel and unscrew the handle secured by a metal plate. At this point, from outside the vehicle, you can operate the lock release lever and open the door. You can then replace the faulty part with a new one. Following the steps in reverse, you can reassemble the disassembled parts. The replacement is now complete.
