To replace the timing belt on the Ford Mondeo 1.8 TDCi, open the bonnet to access the engine bay and remove any obstructing parts located on the side of the engine block. Among the parts to remove are the air filter box and the fuel filter, which can be taken off by loosening their mounting bolts. By also removing the front wheel on the driver's side and the corresponding wheel arch liner, you will gain access to the pulleys, particularly needing to loosen the tensioner roller to reduce the tension on the belt so it can be extracted.
