Ford Mondeo / Fusion - Video tutorial
Model: Ford Mondeo / Fusion
MK 1
- Years 1993-2000 The sensor in question is generally located after the air filter, it sends a signal, which indicates the quantity of air entering the cylinders, to the control unit. The sensor has a connector with 4 cables, 2 for grounding, one for power supply and one that sends the signal to the control unit. Using the multimeter and positioning the selector on 20 V DC, turning on the car ignition, we go to identify the power cable, connecting the multimeter connector to the black cable (usually the earth) and the second to another cable of the sensor until the multimeter detects a voltage of about 12 V, usually this is the red cable. If the multimeterâ € ™ s connector leads do not fit well into the sensorâ € ™ s connectors, you can use pins to make the reading faster. Now we are going to identify the cable that transmits the information of the air flow to the control unit, then by positioning the negative of the multimeter to earth we look with the multimeter on which cable there is a small residual voltage, even 0.01 V. Turning on the motor the voltage will increase according to the number of revolutions at which we bring the motor. In this way we have identified the function of the cables on the air sensor.
