Instructions for Cleaning Air Mass Sensor

Model: Ford Mondeo / Fusion MK 1 - Years 1993-2000

The air mass sensor, commonly known as the mass airflow sensor, provides the engine management unit with information regarding the amount of air drawn into the engine. Based on this data, the unit regulates the amount of fuel to inject. It is evident that if the sensor does not function correctly, engine power delivery will be compromised. This sensor is located immediately after the air filter housing. To clean it, disconnect it from the inlet and outlet hoses and remove the power connector. Once removed, clean it using brake cleaner, spraying it on the two filaments inside the sensor. Reverse the process for reinstallation.
