The mass air flow sensor, commonly known as the MAF sensor, transmits information to the engine management unit regarding the amount of air drawn into the engine, which is used to manage fuel injection. It is clear that incorrect information about the air flow significantly affects performance and fuel consumption; therefore, keeping the MAF sensor clean is absolutely essential: this sensor is easily identifiable and removable, as it is located along the intake duct, connected to the engine air filter box; cleaning can be done with brake cleaner, but it is crucial not to touch the filaments with any tool.
