On the 2011 Ford Focus, the gear knob is screwed onto the lever, making it very easy to remove even for the less experienced. No tools are required for this task.

To replace it, simply rotate it counterclockwise to unscrew. Once removed, the new knob must be screwed back on by turning it clockwise.

If necessary, after unscrewing the old knob and before inserting the new one, you can also replace the gear gaiter, the chrome plastic that secures the edges, and carry out any other maintenance tasks deemed necessary.
