What is the Dipped Beam Relay in a Ford Focus?

If the dipped beam headlights on your Ford Focus have suddenly stopped working, and both the bulbs and fuses are in good condition, you can check the respective relay, the location of which is indicated in this video. As shown, the relay in question is located in the box inside the engine compartment, protected by the plastic cover behind the air filter.

It is labelled R3 and is the second to last in the central column when looking at the box from the front. If faulty, ensure you use a replacement with equivalent specifications.
